Latest Win7 PE fails, Win7 PE fails to build correctly External links Options

GDay All,

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I have just downloaded the latest Win7 PE build files and I'm experiencing a number of problems with the build.

First off, I am able to complete the build but when booting the ISO in VMWare Workstation 6.5 the first thing I get is a dialog box asking for a password. Clicking 'OK' gives another dialog which states 'Wrong Password" and the ISO continues to load. I have no idea what the password is for or what it may be, any clues?

Secondly, when I reach the shell loader dialog I am able to select any of the displayed shells (only explorer, qdir and BSExplorer work).

If I select Explorer, the screen is blank, no icons on the desktop and no task bar.
If I select BS Explorer I get a taskbar and start menu, but no programs appear in the start menu and no icons on the desktop.
If I select qDir I get the qDir window but no taskbar or icons on the desktop.

Is this what I should have or am I missing something? How do I get the taskbar and icons etc to show correctly?

Before I build the image, I set BS Explorer to be the default shell but the ShellPE window always selects Explorer.

Also, I have copied all the apps from the VistaPE build and after some minor mods to some of the scripts to make them compatible with Win7PE, they all work correctly. (Except for the Avira Antivirus script. Still having probs with that).

Any help that anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated.

Password is win7pe. Explorer will not load until you type in the correct password. If you don't want the password protection use Joshua's win7peldr.

Paraglider, thanks for the reply. The password works but I only get the explorer shell happening if press 'ctrl/alt/ins' in VMWare and then the Shell selector shows up and clicking on 'GO' with explorer selected, I finally get a taskbar and start menu with all the programs appearing on the start menu.

No background image on the desktop though, am I getting there or am I missing something else?

What script do I need to deselect when I add joshuas loader? Or do I simply add joshuas script and then build?

in Joshua's '8-Win7pe-loader.script' change the line #35
from this
