Hello, I have a .is_ file and my research suggests that this is a compressed .iso file, what can I do to uncompress the file so i can mount it?

Use expand.exe from Windows commandline. Or use IZArc or similar.

which is a compression utility EVERYONE should have, and that EVERYONE should try opening ANY "unknown" compressed file with, before anything else.
