I've been trying forth and back, but PE just doesn't use the right font for the Startmenu. frusty.gif

In this picture you can see the original XP Startmenu and right next to it Arial (top) Tahoma (bottom).
As you can see non of the two fits.

Does anyone know which Font is usually used or how to find out?

It should be Tahoma or MS Sans Serif?

But it seems like it has a different size.

What resolution are you using?

Is it a LCD screen?

If yes, is it the "native" resolution of the LCD?

Are you using (in screen properties) "normal" size of characters?

Try posting an image with the menu and the word "ProDokugramEinstungen" wink.gif in several font sizes. unsure.gif

Go to Start -> Run, then type regedit to open the registry editor. Now navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes

Now double click on "MS Shell Dlg" and put in the font style you want as the value.
Then double click on "MS Shell Dlg 2" and again put in the font style you want as the value.

After you are finished, restart your pc.

It's a regular crt monitor. so no strange distortions. wink.gif

MS Shell Dlg(2) has nothing to do with it. Fell for that one too.
The used font is decided upon in the color schemes and it's actually Microsoft Sans Serif, but it only looks like this on the menus. When one uses it in wordpad the letter spacing is completely different.
In the Menus it's sort of Microsoft Sans Serif with Arial spacing.

Calibri? MS seems to have fallen in love with it.

There's always http://www.identifont.com/ ;-)
